Three people died on spot in an accident involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at Kyesiiga Cell in Bujumbura Division, Hoima City on Christmas Day.

The deceased include the rider Ronald Muganyizi, 30, and the passengers Darlison Nakacwa, 20, and Enid Kemigisa, 25.
The three were residents of Mwendante cell in Karongo ward, Bujumbura Division in Hoima city, according to the Albertine region police Public Relations Officer, ASP Julius Allan Hakiza.
Mr Hakiza told Kazi-njema News that the accident occurred at around 7:30pm along Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya Road.
The bodies were taken to Hoima City Mortuary for postmortem while the vehicle was towed and parked at Hoima police barracks yard.
The driver whose identity was not readily established by press time is on the run.
A team of traffic police officers who visited the scene attribute the accident to probable reckless driving.
“We call upon drivers to be careful while driving and desist from unnecessary excitement during this festive season and ensure that life is paramount,” Mr Hakiza said.
The police spokesperson said the cause of the accident is being investigated further vide Hoima TAR 72/2020.

However, Mr Hakiza said apart from that accident, the Albertine region is calm.
