Masindi District has again registered another case of COVID-19 bringing to seven the number of people testing positive for the virus there.
Mr Patrick Baguma, the acting District Health Officer told this website today that the patient is a male adult from Kitooka 2 Village in Pakanyi Sub-county.
The health officer revealed that the patient is a contact of contacts of the first cases that were confirmed in the district which the COVID-19 taskforce has been monitoring.
Mr Baguma said the health authorities received information from Kampala yesterday that the patient had tested positive for the virus. This forced the authorities to immediately evacuate him from the community.
He said the patient is being kept at the district isolation ward within Masindi after failing to get him space at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital COVID-19 treatment unit that is currently filled up with other patients.
Mr Baguma said that the patient’s contacts including his family members have been quarantined at Masindi quarantine centre as the authorities trace for more contacts.
Some of the COVID-19 cases previously registered in Masindi include a police officer, a business woman, a staff at Masindi Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) station and a casual labourer.
The first case was discharged from Hoima Regional Referral Hospital COVID-19 treatment unit after recovering from the deadly virus while others are still receiving treatment.
