A National Medical Stores (NMS) vehicle is stuck at Masindi General Hospital after unknown thugs took off with its battery.

A source that preferred anonymity at the hospital told Kazi-Njema News reporter this (Friday) morning that a Scania vehicle registration number UAJ 200X delivered a consignment of drugs at the hospital last (Thursday) evening forcing the driver and other official occupants in the vehicle to spend a night in Masindi since it was too late for them to leave to other districts for the same assignment.

However, no sooner had the officials decided to leave this morning, than the driver found out that the battery was missing. This was after the engine failed to start. The incident forced him to report the matter to Masindi Central Police Station.

Police swung into action, rushed to the scene and recorded statements from the security guard and other personnel at the hospital.

When contacted, the driver who refused to identify himself to our reporter said the hospital administration was devising means of getting another battery for the vehicle to enable them depart.

Also, when contacted, the hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Felix Twinomugisha, confirmed the story.

By the time of this publication, the vehicle was still stuck at the hospital.
