Buhimba Utd Saints, Kibanjwa FC fight for regional league playoffs on last day of Albert group

Kitara region sides: Buhimba United Saints FC and Kibanjwa FC of Kikuube and Hoima Districts respectively go into the final game of the Albert group season with both teams capable of qualifying for Kitara regional league playoffs.

Buhimba Utd Saints FC won Masindi-based Dove FC 2-1 at Kigaaya Church of Uganda primary school playground while Kibanjwa FC hammered Kiryandongo-based Bweyale FC 3-1 in an away game in Kiryandongo. Both games were played yesterday (Saturday).

The two teams which each is at 52 points are competing to top the Albert group to qualify for Kitara regional playoffs in the road of qualifying for FUFA Big League next season.

Both teams are remaining with one game to end the Albert group in which Buhimba will battle with Masindi’s Kirasa FC away in Masindi while Kibanjwa will tassel with Mugarama Blue Stars at Kibanjwa playground in Kitoba sub-county.

Mike Ziwa, the head coach of Buhimba United Saints FC said his team is in good shape ahead of the next games since no serious injuries have so far been registered.

Noting that the group is becoming pretty competitive, his team is ready to crash any team that comes to their way to shatter their dream of qualifying to the next level.

“Our players are very fit for the next game. But we want to keep on training hard and assessing every player’s fitness.”

He requests for fan support since the coming match is tricky, the last one and the only block on their way to Kitara region playoffs.

Eng Julius Ahuura, the President of Buhimba Utd Saints FC, says the club needs more financial support since the level they are heading to needs a lot of funds to run, thus, need for joint efforts.

“We want more support both financially and on the pitch because where the team is heading to needs joint efforts to mobilise enough funds that can run the club because when it qualifies, it will need to buy more experienced players and other requirements.”

The Albert group game will end on June 10 and the last match will determine who will qualify for Kitara regional league playoffs.
