Ms Stella Kobusiinge Abwoli has emerged winner for the Miss Bunyoro 2023/24 4th Edition Pageantry that was held at HB Hotel in Hoima City over the weekend.
Ms Kobusiinge, who replaces Barbara Nyangoma, both born of Masindi district, outcompeted other contestants including Anita Aseera Azoora Atwoki, Margaret Murungi Akiiki, Linda Kiiza Akello Amooti and Sandra Harriet Kembabazi Amooti.
During her one-year-term in office, Kobusiinge will work on a project dubbed “Cultured Generation” that will see her promote the Kinyoro culture among young people in Bunyoro and in various education establishments in the region.
In the contest, Ms Azoora and Ms Murungi were the 1st runners up.
Speaking on behalf of the Omuhikirwa (Prime Minister) of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Mr Andrew Kirungi Byakutaaga, the kingdom Chief Administrative Secretary, Mr Alex Katusabe, said such competitions are important in the kingdom because they are aim to promote Bunyoro’s culture and heritage that he said are a core value of every Munyoro.
He urged the contestants to always visit the kingdom headquarters to get equipped with the Kinyoro culture as a means of promoting it and tourism.
Mr Aggrey Rwahwire, the Miss Bunyoro Foundation Chief Executive Officer cum organiser of the pageantry encouraged and urged other young girls to always participate in such contests so that they can build their confidence that can enable them to thrive in the world.
He revealed that five contestants made it to the finals but Ms Sandra Kobusiinge from Kakumiro district could not stand in the finale after involving in an accident.
