Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei has finished second in the men’s 10,000 metres at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan today (Friday), July 30, 2021.
Cheptegei crossed the finish line with a time of 27:43.63, thus, scooping a bronze medal.
Another Ugandan athlete, Jacob Kiplimo finished third when he crossed the finish line with a time of 27:43.88). He scooped a silver medal.
It was Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega who accelerated in the final lap and crossed the finish line with a time of 27:43.22 to win the men’s 10,000 metres.
Barega is the first track and field gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.
