Destiny Soccer Academy of Lira City secured a 1- 0 win over Kampala Galaxy Soccer Academy this afternoon to progress to the last 16 of the 2023 Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) Chenga National Championship under 13 that kicked off on January 16, 2024, at Mbarara High School in Mbarara City.
The 2023 Edition of the championship which is the second of its kind was due to be held from 12th –17th December but it was postponed due to yet to be known reasons.
Destiny progressed with 7 points from Group F following their 2 wins and a draw.
The other result was a 3-0 win over Rwakabengo Soccer Academy and a 1-all draw against Garuga Soccer Academy.
Emma Ocaa, the head coach of Destiny Soccer Academy, however, said his boys are ready to challenge in this year’s edition and go past the last 16.
A total of 24 football teams across the country are taking part in the competition which is expected to end on January 20, 2024.
The National UYFA Chenga Championship was launched in 2022 as B13/G13 National Championship by the UYFA Executive Committee.
The inaugural national championship was played from 16th – 21st August 2022 at Nkoma Senior Secondary School in Mbale.
The Rubaga-based side, Sparta 09 and CBI from Kumi are the defending champions of the national championships in boys and girls respectively.
