Former Villa forward Fahad Bardilo finds solace in DR Congo

Football Club Renaissance du Congo have beefed up their attacking line by capturing Ugandan lanky forward, Fahad Bardiro, on a three-year-contract.

“It is towards East Africa that the new committee sets their sights to expand the Football Club Renaissance du Congo line of attack. This is Uganda striker, Bardiro Fahad from Kampala City to be Rene for the next three seasons,” reads the club statement.

Bardiro joins FC Renaissance du Congo on a free transfer after ending his tenure with Uganda Premier League record champions, Sports Club Villa.

The 24-year-old had joined the Jogoos from Cameroon’s Bamboutos de Mbouda in 2019. He left with less than 15 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking to the press, Bardiro said: “I’m glad to have signed in this club. I can’t just wait to get started. My target is to become a better player personally and be a team player. I want to work with this beautiful club so that we get back to continental football next season.”

Besides Bamboutos de Mbouda and SC Villa, Bardiro has featured for BIDCO Uganda Ltd Football Club (BUL FC) and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) FC.

The Kinshasa-based club is currently 15th on the 20-team log with one point from two games of the Linafoot League. They will host Simba in their match day three game at Stade Des Martyrs on Sunday.
