Hoima identifies Covid-19 vaccination centres

The Hoima District Covid-19 Taskforce has identified five health facilities as Covid-19 vaccination centres in Hoima City and Hoima District, reveals the Hoima District Health Officer, Dr Lawrence Tumusiime.

The centres include Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and Bujumbura Health Centre 3 for Hoima Oil City and Mparangasi Health Centre 3 in Kyabigambire Sub-county and Buseruka Health Centre 3 in Buseruka Sub-county of Bugahya County and Kigorobya Health Centre 4 of Kigorobya County in Hoima district.

Government yesterday (Wednesday) officially launched the first phase of immunisation against Covid-19 after receiving 964,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

Dr Tumusiime says more than 500 health workers have been notified to be inoculated.

The physician told this online news portal that government has promised to dispatch 1,000 doses to Hoima by the end of this week.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Uganda, Hoima has so far registered a cumulative number of 134 patients at government institutions and those under home based care.

Out of the 134 patients, 54 were treated under the home based care arrangement and have recovered and discharged.
