Hoima parents tipped on girl child protection in lockdown

Hoima City Principal Education Officer, Johnson Kusiima Baingana.

The Hoima City Principal Education Officer, Johnson Kusiima Baingana, has reiterated his call on parents to pay attention to girl child protection during this period of unforeseen school closure.

In a one-on-one interview with Kazi-njema News, he noted that a girl child is more vulnerable than a boy child justifying why the entire community should work for their protection.

During the first lockdown last year, Uganda Police Force recorded a sharp rise in cases of defilement and rape as secondary and primary schools noted an increase in the number of schools dropouts when schools reopened after the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

Cases of university students’ unwanted pregnancies were also brought to limelight by the very students during this period.

Now, Mr Baingana tips parents and guardians to close-monitor and regulate movements of their children especially during the night.

In the video below, he stresses on girl child protection. (English)
