How Hoima city spent Shs1b that anguished MP Nyakato

The key part of the report to the Hoima City Works Committee Meeting that never went well on Tuesday was coverage of the roads mapped for rehabilitation in Hoima City.

The authorities say the expenditure was dependent upon the time of fund reception and the endorsed work plan.

The report below was released by Ms Margaret Monday, the Secretary for Works, Hoima City Council who said that the funds spent were part of the Shs1b allocated to Hoima city for Financial Year 2023/24.

She said the funds came in two phases – each delivering 50% and was used accordingly as per the work plan.

The accountability was, however, disputed by the Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Asinansi Nyakato, who cited shoddy work and elements of embezzlement that resulted  in a clash ending the meeting prematurely.

According to the report seen by Kazi-njema News, the planned expenditure for the 4km Kibiingo-Kyabalyanga Road was Shs143.69m. However, Shs136.49m was the expenditure and the network stands at 100% completion.
