Kagadi man kills wife for harvesting a banana with a hoe

A 40-year-old man has killed his wife accusing her of harvesting a bunch of banana using a hoe in Kagadi District.

The District Police Commander (DPC), Mr Steven Kamar, identifies the suspect as Cyprian Musinguzi, a resident of Maberenga C Village in Kisuura Parish, Nyakarongo Sub – county.

According to the DPC, Musinguzi killed his 30-year-old wife, Vasitina Ndayisenga over the weekend accusing her of failing to use a machete in harvesting the banana.

Speaking to Kazi-njema News on Wednesday, the police officer said that on interrogation, the suspect told the police that the deceased harvested the banana so she could prepare a meal for the family.

Mr Kamar said that a report released after a medical examination conducted to ascertain the suspect’s mental health indicates that Musinguzi does not suffer from any mental problem.

But the DPC suspects that Musinguzi could have committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.

He said that the suspect who is currently detained at Kagadi police station will be arraigned before court to defend himself against murder charges preferred against him.

Kagadi district has so far recorded 17 murder cases since April this year which Mr Kamar attributes to domestic violence arising from excessive alcohol consumption.
