A 24-year-old man has speared and killed his own biological brother in Kagadi District.
Muhindo Sikawa, a resident of Muziizi A Village in Kyaterekera Sub-county, Kagadi District speared to death Bwambale Sikawa, 26, resident of the same area yesterday (Sunday), March 14, 2021 at around 6pm.
The Albertine region police spokesperson, ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, told Kazi-njema News that Muhindo who is currently on the run reportedly picked a quarrel with his sister only identified as Biira over yet to be known reasons resulting in a fight.
As Bwambale rushed to rescue their sister, Muhindo got a spear that he used to stab his brother in the stomach killing him instantly.
Immediately after killing him, Muhindo fled to an unknown hideout.
The deceased’s body was taken to Kagadi General Hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the relatives for burial.
Simioni Karaba, the deceased’s father says he was shocked after learning that his son was stabbed by his biological brother.
According to Mr Hakiza, once the suspect is apprehended, he will be arraigned before court to defend himself against charges of murder.
Meanwhile, Kakumiro police have detained their own, Special Police Constable (SPC), Julius Alaku, for shooting dead a suspect.
Alaku, attached to Kikwaya police post in Kakumiro district allegedly shot dead John Barugahare who was arrested and detained at Kikwaya police post yesterday (Sunday) at around 11pm.
According to the Albertine region police spokesperson, ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, it all began when suspects started quarrelling inside the police cells and when the SPC opened the door to see what was transpiring, the suspects allegedly started fighting him.
Mr Hakiza told our reporter that after overpowering the SPC, the suspects started escaping from the police cells forcing him to open fire that resulted in a stray bullet hitting Barugahare in the stomach and died on the way being rushed to Kakumiro Health Centre 4.
The police spokesperson said the SPC is detained to help police investigations.
By publication time, the body was still lying at Kakumiro Health Centre 4 pending postmortem.
