Kakumiro health centre stuck with unclaimed decomposing bodies

Health care givers at Kakumiro Health Centre 4 in Kakumiro District are stuck with three unclaimed decomposing bodies producing a stench making work at the facility hard.

The bodies are of the three suspected cattle thieves, who were killed by an irate mob at Birembo Village in Birembo Sub-county Kakumiro District.

These were killed on December 23, last year.

Mr Israel Kyegimbo, the in charge of Kakumiro Health Centre 4 says as it is always, police took the bodies to the health facility mortuary purposely to conduct an autopsy.

The health worker says now the decomposing bodies are producing a stench that is making people uncomfortable at the facility.

Efforts to have the bodies buried in the town council cemetery have not yet yielded positive results.

Patients’ attendants who spoke to our reporter said that they are choking because of the bad smell from the mortuary which is close to the maternity ward.

Mr Kyegimbo has called for help from relevant authorities.

However, Kakumiro Town council administration is yet to comment on the matter.
