Kitara FC are finally back to winning ways after beating NEC FC with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League game played today Saturday at Masindi Municipal Stadium.
The Royals had been winless is the previous three games as they lost to Maroons FC 1-0 and BUL FC 2-1 and picked a 2-2 stalemate with URA FC.
Kitara managed this narrow victory to mark their 6th campaign win when, on their home turf, Jude Ssemugabi struck on the volley to hand the Pride of Bunyoro three points and take them to second on the log with 19 points in nine matches.
The score line could have been more significant for the hosts since they dominated, but NEC’s goalkeeper, Samson Kiirya, was strong on the day denying multiple efforts from the Pride of Bunyoro’s Brian Aheebwa, Living Kabon, and in a one-on-one situation with Denis Omedi.
This means Kitara missed several opportunities and this could have secured a more convincing win for The Royals.
NEC came close to equalising through Enock Ssebagala but his effort hit the woodwork in the latter stages of the game.
The win ended Kitara’s three-game winless streak, propelling them to 19 points and 2nd place.
Kitara will visit Champions Vipers SC on December 7 in their next match.
