Kitara FC settled for a barren draw against Northern Gateway in new coach, Sam Ssimbwa’s first league game at the club.
In the match played today Thursday, February 9, 2023, in Lira, Kitara now sit second in the FUFA Big League table with 32 points behind NEC with a difference of one point. This means NEC has 33 points.
The Hoima-based Pride of Bunyoro away woes continue with their last away win stretching way back in November against Lugazi FC.
While in Lira, the visitors dominated the game and created a number of chances but could not find the breakthrough.
This is not the start that Ssimbwa and his charges hoped for since during his being unveiled at Kigaaya COU primary school playground on Sunday, he said he came to solve the problems of the club for not winning away games.
Although The Royals failed to put the ball past the goalkeeper, it is a point earned nonetheless.
For the hosts, it is a hard earned point as well and they will be pleased with the result.
However, to the dismay of the fans, Kitara drops to second on the log with 32 points after 16 games while Northern Gateway are rock bottom of the log with 11 points.
In the next match, Kitara FC on Thursday, February 16, 2023, welcome Booma FC at Kigaaya COU Primary School Ground in the Bunyoro Derby.
