Kitara beat MYDA to keep survival hopes alive

Captain Patrick Mugume is Pilsner man of the match as Kitara FC-Hoima beat MYDA FC 3-1 today,

Kitara FC today (Tuesday) earned their third victory this season thanks to a 3-1 victory over Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) FC in a league game played at the Masindi Municipal Stadium.

Forward Isaac Tumusiime scored a brace on the day while Stuart Mwesigwa scored the other goal for the hosts.

Peter Mutebi later netted late in the game for the visitors but the damage was already done.

Playing at home, the Hoima-based Kitara FC looked to be the better side on the day and it was not a surprise as they took an early lead.

With just 10 minutes played, Tumusiime struck for the home side to hand them a deserved lead.

Mwesigwa doubled Kitara’s advantage on 40 minutes with MYDA looking out of sorts.

At the stroke of half time, Tumusiime completed his brace, capitalising on a mistake by MYDA custodian Isaac Osikol.

With a three goal lead at half time, it was a matter of managing the second half proper so as to secure three vital points for the home side.

Towards the end of the game, Mutebi headed home Amos Kirya’s cross to pull a goal back but it was too late for MYDA who succumbed to yet another loss.

Victory sees Kitara move to 13 points for the season and are now 13 points away from safety with five games to play.

For MYDA, they remain in the 15th place with 14 points after 24 games.

Next up for Kitara is a trip to Wankulukuku to face Express FC on Friday while MYDA host Wakiso Giants FC on the same day.
