Kitara clinch 2022/23 FUFA Big League title

Newly promoted Kitara FC crowned FUFA Big League champions after beating Kaaro Karungi 1-0 on the final day of the 2nd tier 2022/23 season at Kigaaya COU primary school playground on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Kitara Football Club from Hoima Oil City are champions of the 2022/23 FUFA Big League after ripping to pieces Kaaro Karungi 1-0 through a penalty on the final match day 30 of the season at Kigaaya Church of Uganda primary school playground.

The Royals claimed the crown when Paul Mucureezi scored the lone goal of the game in the 37th minute after Paddy Muhumuza was fouled in the box.

The victory means the oil-rich Hoima City match into the Uganda Premier League with an unbeaten home run winning 13 and drawing 2 at the Kigaaya grounds.

Again the win means Kitara finished the season with 61 points, one ahead of Mbarara City FC who also won their home game 3-0 against already relegated Northern Gateway.

The Pride of Bunyoro secured promotion last week after defeating Adjumani Town Council.

Kitara and Mbarara City have been joined by NEC FC as the three teams promoted to the 2023/2024 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
