Hoima’s Kitara Football Club has acquired a seven-acre piece of land for the construction of a standard sports centre, reveals the club’s Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Joshua Atugonza says the land located at Kyamugenzi Village in Butema Parish, Buhanika Sub-county in Hoima District will be used to construct a football pitch, an athletics running track, dressing rooms, and a mini stand with facilities for other games like volleyball, netball, hockey and rugby.
He says the land that cost Shs42m with each piece at a tune of Sh6m is 16km away from Hoima city centre and 1km off the Hoima-Kampala Highway.
Mr Atugonza adds that the official ground breaking ceremony will be conducted in a little while to pave way for construction works to begin.
“The management of Kitara Football Club managed to secure land foe a recreation centre where a football field and other facilities will be put,” he says.
Kitara FC has been using Masindi Municipal Stadium for the second part of the season in top flight.
Initially, the club hosted their games at the Kigaaya playground in Kikuube district in the FUFA Big League.
However, when the club was promoted to Uganda Premier League, the Kigaaya pitch did not meet FUFA’s Licensing Committee standards, forcing it to shift its base to Kavumba Recreation Centre in Wakiso district.
