Kitara FC and URA exchanged leads on Friday but both had to settle for a point in the end as they played out a 2-2 draw.
Living Kabon and Brian Aheebwa netted for Kitara that travelled to Metha Stadium in Lugazi where they faced their rivals in the 7th game of the Uganda Premier League this season.
The Pride of Bunyoro opened up the score sheet in opening minutes from a thunderous strike from Kabon before the Tax Collectors turned it 2:1 in the 46th minute.
The Hoima-based visitors took the lead in the first half hour when Kabon volleyed home from outside the 18-yard area after a URA defender’s failed clearance fell into his path.
Kitara could have equalised six minutes from full time but The Royal’s Captain Maxwell Owachgiu’s lob crashed off the crossbar.
But the equaliser for URA finally came in the dying minutes of added time when Aheebwa struck home from inside the area after a scrappy manoeuvre.
Aheebwa’s last gasp in the 97th minute saw The Royals earn a point from the Tax Collectors that enabled them to remain untouchable in their second place with 16 points on the league’s table standings with BUL FC in the lead with 18 points while URA remain 7th on the log.
The draw spoiled David Obua’s dream in his first StarTimes Uganda Premier League match since he took over the reins as head coach last week.
Kitara will next visit the table leaders BUL FC and will be looking to return to their winning ways after losing one game and drawing one in the 7 opening games.
