Kitgum’s Patricia Anek makes debuts for national rugby team

Patricia Anek represents Uganda Lady Crane Rugby Club.

The Uganda Lady Crane Rugby Club tomorrow Sunday, July 18, 2021, go for a rematch after thrashing Zimbabwe national team on July 14, 2021.

Patricia Anek, a player with Kitgum Queens rugby club in Kitgum district made her debut for the national rugby team opener of the Africa Cup Qualifiers during that match played from Kyandondo Rugby Ground in Kampala she comfortably thrashed Zimbabwe 41-0.

Anek’s recently appointment as vice-captain of the national team has particularly been the centre of interest from rugby fans in northern Uganda.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kazi-njema News, Anek a prop-tight player, promised to deliver a lot more expressing delight for being part of the national team.

Anek is a primary school teacher at School Road in Gulu City. She started her rugby career in 2014 while at Kitgum Town College before joining Kitgum Queens and earned herself a call up to the national rugby team trials three times.

This year’s theme: “Africa as one.”
