Persons displaced by flood of Lake Albert in Ndaiga Sub-county, Kagadi District have received relief items from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to relatively ease their life.

Mr George Gulyetonda, the Kagadi District Communications Officer, told our reporter that the OPM delivered 17,500 kgs of maize flour, 7,500 kgs of beans, 100 kgs of sugar and 500 pieces of blankets for distribution to the displaced persons.
The communications officer said sugar will be distributed to vulnerable people only including breastfeeding mothers among others adding that district leaders will convene a meeting and discuss modalities of delivering the items to the displaced persons beginning this week.
Mr Gulyetonda said the demand for food is increasing for the displaced persons as more areas continue to be inundated by the flood of Lake Albert.
The Kagadi district woman Member of Parliament, Jennifer Kyomuhendo Mbabazi, said the aid will cause a sigh of relief to the displaced persons.
More than 4,000 people are currently sheltering in churches and schools while others shifted to waterlogged-free areas.
All districts at the shoreline of Lake Albert have been hit by the flood of Lake Albert including Hoima, Kikuube and Buliisa, and Ntoroko in Bunyoro and Rwenzori sub-regions respectively.
