Masindi-based Lady Doves FC play against Djibouti side FAD in the opening match of their CAF Women Champions League regional qualifier at the Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi –Kenya today Saturday, August 28, 2021.

The Uganda representatives in what is the inaugural edition of the women continental club competition will seek to place every step moved in the right place if they are to make their dream come true and a win will be the best mark.

“We expect to start with a win,” Lady Doves head coach, Fred Musiime, told the press shortly after the last training adding “The girls are ready and we shall give it our all.

“The girls are much excited to play the opening game of the tournament and we cannot afford to be careless at the very start. We want to make our presence felt.”

Speaking about the weather in Nairobi, Musiime said: “The weather is not any different from that in Uganda and we do not expect it to affect us in any way.”

“Playing as early as 13:00 hours is not new to us since we played even earlier hours at Njeru. We have also trained during that time and we do not expect to be moved in any way,” he concluded.

Skipper Daisy Nakaziro was confident ahead of the qualifiers and promised great results since they have prepared for a great time.

“The team is in a good state for today’s game. We are sure of a good result. We have waited for three months and are ready for the battle not only for the first game but the whole tournament.”

Last season’s squad has been beefed with new acquisitions such as Daphine Nyayenga, Halima Kanyango, Gloria Namugerwa, Spencer Nakacwa and Zahara Nankya.

Lady Doves arrived in Nairobi on Thursday and had their first training in the evening before their last session yesterday (Friday) morning.

Shortly after facing FAD, the Masindi based side will later face Simba Queens after two days and later climax the group against Burundi’s PVP.
