A man in his 50s has gone missing for the fourth day now despite the residents and police search.
The missing man has been identified as Karoli Ssemuka, a resident of Nyairongo trading centre in Kabwoya sub-county in Kikuube district.
Mr Desire Murenzi Nkurunziza, the Nyairongo Village Chairman, has told Kazi-njema Radio that the information about the missing man started flowing on Saturday evening after failing to return home from the garden as expected.
The search started on Sunday and a report was made at Kyarusheisha Police Post prompting a major search.
The joint search between the police and residents did not yield any fruits but they have resumed today.
Reports show that Ssemuka left home on Saturday morning for his bean garden in the forest entering through the Rwenkobe area. The hoe he was using was found in the garden.
“The issue now is to see that we find his whereabouts whether alive or dead. But we cannot sit back since the fact is that many people have been dying in Bugoma forest since 2020,” Mr Nkurunziza says.
The chairman says a missing case has been reported to Kyarusheihsa Police Post by Ms Everce Nimusiima under S/D Ref: 05/20/08/2024.
