Court in Nwoya District has remanded a police driver attached to Nwoya Central Police Station on charges of reckless driving and causing bodily injuries.

Court heard that on January 31, 2021, Patrick Okeng caused a police vehicle registration number UP 7735 to overturn few metres to Kinene trading centre from Koch Goma to Alero sub-county.
In the accident that occurred at around 2am, eight police officers mostly Special Police Constables and two Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers sustained leg fractures.
However, Okeng who survives the injuries fled the scene until April 21, 2021, when he ran out of luck and was arrested in Lira district driving a taxi while putting on a police jacket. He was immediately transferred to Nwoya district from where he committed the offence.
Appearing before the Nwoya Grade One magistrate, Susan Anyeko, yesterday (Wednesday), April 28, 2021, Okeng pleaded not guilty to the offences and was remanded to Nwoya government prison till May 5, 2021, when he will reappear in court for further hearing of his case.
