One dead, 2 injured in Masindi traffic collision

One person died and two others sustained serious injuries when a motorcycle they were riding on collided with a tractor at Kamunyonga Cell in Karujubu Division, Masindi Municipality.

The deceased has been identified as John Bosco Kyomuhendo, 26, resident of Kihuuba B cell while the injured are Emmanuel Akugizibwe and another only identified as Musinguzi.

Mr Moses Barongo, a father to the deceased told our stringer in Masindi that his son who was carrying the duo met his demise last (Friday) night at around 9pm while en-route to Kihuuba B cell from Masindi town.

He said the motorcycle whose registration number he did not disclose collided with a tractor that had illumined the road with one headlamp carrying sugarcane belonging to Kinyara Sugar Works from the field to the factory.

Mr Barongo added that his son died on the spot while Musinguzi and Akugizibwe were rushed to Masindi General Hospital where they are nursing multiple bodily injuries.

He also said that the driver of the tractor board number 47-074 and wheel number 40-30 speedily drove off to Kinyara sugar factory immediately after getting involved in the accident.

Police arrived at the scene, took Kyomuhendo’s body to Masindi Hospital for an autopsy before handing it to the relatives for burial.

This website neither got a comprehensive comment from Kinyara Sugar Factory as the company Communications Manager only promised to get back to us later nor from the Albertine Region police spokesperson.
