At least one person has been hacked to death and another three wounded during a clash between family members at Kibaali Village in Buraru Sub-county, Hoima District.
The deceased has been identified as Amos Kasangaki son to the late Jackson Kifundara.
The incident that took place yesterday (Tuesday) morning has been raging on for two years with the conflicting parties engaged in disagreement over ancestral land ownership.
It is alleged that the sons and daughters of John Gucwaki, a brother to the late Kifundara, father to the deceased Kasangaki are in dispute over land measuring about 80 acres.
Mr Charles Bigirwa, a brother to the deceased claims that they were attacked at around 8am by a group of 15 people armed with machetes and spears.
“We were in the garden digging when we were attacked. They started hacking us indiscriminately. We started running to save life”, he narrated.
Mr Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the suspects including Sarah Karungi, John Gucwaki, Fred Magezi, Jotham Wobusobozi and Peter Tabaro.
The police officer added that investigations are underway for the arrested as the police continue hunting for the suspects currently at large.
The injured are receiving treatment at different health facilities in Buraru sub-county and Hoima city.
