Patient with Ebola-like signs passes on in Nebbi

A 57-year old man who was admitted presenting signs of Ebola haemorrhagic fever in Nebbi District has passed on.

The deceased, whose identity has not been revealed was resident of Pacaka parish in Erusi sub-county, Nebbi district bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Robert Abak.

The RDC said the man died two hours after admission at Erusi Health Centre 3 adding that the Ministry of Health has taken some samples to Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) Entebbe for test.

However, by the time of publishing this story, the results were yet out.

A fortnight ago, Nebbi reportedly also registered a suspected Ebola patient from Parombo sub-county who later passed away. But the results showed that the deceased had Tuberculosis not Ebola.
