The Executive Director (ED) for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) has said the threat of enemies of Uganda’s oil industry is still active and impacting on the progress.

Mr Ernest Rubondo, says the message alert mainly goes to the leaders in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) to stay watchful.

“We have a group of people that have decided to come to this area and say bad things about the oil sector, well knowing that they are telling lies,” he says.

The ED says such people even carry placards in communities saying ‘StopEACOP’ claiming the project has not benefitted Ugandans.

He acknowledges the fact that such negative talk affects the relationship with Uganda’s oil partners abroad.

However, Mr Rubondo says the improved road network, the airport construction, market for agricultural produce, employment opportunities and many more advantages stand as testimonies against negative propaganda.
