Hoima City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Asinansi Nyakato has expressed concern over what she describes as inefficiencies in service delivery at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.

Speaking to journalists after her tour to the hospital, Hon. Nyakato said she had discovered that services have been deteriorating even before the new wave of COVID-19 outbreak.

She also discovered that under funding of the hospital and delayed payment of medics are the major challenges to service delivery since they are incapacitated and demoralized to work.

She fears that with the growing threat of coronavirus infections and deaths, the situation might get out of hands if no urgent action is taken by government.

The MP also discovered that the medics had spent 8 months without payment yet they also have children and relatives to care for as well as their personal needs to fit in the dignity of a medic.

She was shocked to find that that 8 of 10 patients in need of oxygen will have to die since there are only two oxygen cylinders to serve non COVID-19 patients at the hospital for now.

Pledging to push for special funding through parliament, she told journalists about persistent inadequacies in the hospital funding until today.

According to her, inefficiencies are responsible for the low turn up of patients at that referral facility currently.
