Three arrested for allegedly stealing drugs in Nwoya

Police in Nwoya have detained three staffs of Coo-rom Health Centre 2 in Koch Goma Sub-county for allegedly stealing government drugs.

The trio whose identity has been withheld not to jeopardize the police investigation were detained at the weekend after they went to record statements at Nwoya police station.

The drugs include 16 boxes of coartem, four tins of metronidazole, a tin of Amoxicillin and three boxes of surgical gloves.

Authorities at the health facility took notice of the disappearance of the drugs from the store on April 26, 202l, thus informing the police about the matter.

Mr Kenneth Agaba, the officer in charge of Nwoya central police station confirmed the report adding that the suspects have been charged with theft contrary to Section 254 (1) and 261 of the Penal Code Act.

“The police investigation team went to the scene of the crime and recorded statements that shall help us in the investigations,” Mr Agaba said.
