Three perish in Pader accident

Two people died on spot and one died at a health facility after a motorcycle they were riding on had a head on collision with a vehicle in Pader District.

Those who died on spot have been identified as Irene Acen, 48 and Jalone Omara, 3. Norah Abalo, 20, died at Angagura health centre 3 where she was rushed together with Samuel Okema who was riding the motorcycle.

Okema was later referred to Gulu regional referral hospital where he is currently receiving medical care.

The accident occurred at Corner pa Ladeng Gor-gwiri Village in Angagura Sub-county, Pader District at around 8pm the vehicle registration number UBD 227K heading from Gulu hit the motorcycle registration number UES 766G carrying three people who eventually died.

The driver whose name was not readily available by press time handed himself to Angagura police station.

Mr Lazarus Obbo Kidega, the Angagura Sub-county LC 3 Chairman, blames both the driver and the motorcyclist for driving without following traffic rules and carrying excess passengers respectively.

When contacted, the Aswa River Regional Police Spokesman, Mr Jimmy Patrick Okema, said he was not yet informed of the report by press time.
