Site preparation work on the Tilenga Project Industrial Area has begun with bush clearing, fencing and construction of drainage and internal roads, Total E&P Uganda has said.
In a press statement, the French oil giant says those are some of the activities aimed at preparing the site for the establishment of an Industrial Area that will host the Tilenga Central Processing Facility, yards and camps.
The site preparation activities expected to be concluded by mid-next year will be implemented through their contractor, Mota-Engil Uganda. Work started this morning at Kasinyi village, in Nguedo sub-county in Buliisa district.
The oil company adds that it is in touch with different stakeholders including local leaders to publicise the opportunities coming along with the ongoing Industrial Area development including provision of skilled and unskilled labour force.
“We are pleased to announce the commencement of these site preparation activities whichare essential to getting the site ready for the main construction activities”, says Mr Jean-Yves Poulet, the TilengaProject Director for Total E&P Uganda.
On handling the grievances that might arise as works continue Mr Poulet says the company has established a clear procedure to timely address any grievances.
Total E&P Uganda is an upstream affiliate which is leading the development activities
towards production in the Tilenga project area – Exploration Area 1 (EA-1) and Exploration Area 2 North (EA-2N) within the Albertine Region.
