The Uganda Kobs defeated DRC 1-0 in their first classification game at the 2021 CECAFA U23 Challenge Cup today Monday, July 26, 2021.
Having failed to progress out of the group, both sides were playing for a right to qualify for the 5th/6th match and it was Uganda who took the honours on the day.
Najib Yiga scored the only goal of the day, breaking the deadlock at the stroke of halftime.
Three changes were made to the team that played the final group game at Bahir Dar International Stadium, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
The victory is Uganda’s first at the competition having drawn 0-0 with the same side and 1-1 against Tanzania in their opening two games.
Uganda will now take on Eritrea who defeated Ethiopia earlier today Monday, in the 5th/6th classification game on Wednesday.
