The Kasongoire Village Chairman in Budongo Sub-county, Masindi District has been arrested for alleged robbery.

Ezekiel Kasaija, was arrested yesterday (Tuesday) together with William Museveni, a resident of the area were for allegedly robbing Livingstone Baguma, the village campaign coordinator for the former Bujenje County Parliamentary candidate in the 2021 elections, Lt (Rtd) Patrick Kasumba.
The Masindi District Police Commander (DPC) Vincent Irama, says that Kasaija mobilised other residents in the area and mounted an operation to arrest people who were distributing items to voters in the area on the eve of the parliamentary elections.
Mr Irama added that during the operation, Kasaija and 10 other residents apprehended Baguma while allegedly distributing the items at around 11pm and later handed him over to Kabango police station.
The DPC told Kazi-njema News that Baguma who had bodily injuries at the time he was handed to police, later accused the people who arrested him of purportedly beating and robbing him of Shs1.9 million before opening a case of simple robbery against them.
The police officer said that police mounted a hunt for the accused persons and managed to arrest Kasaija and Museveni and by press time they were in police custody waiting to be arraigned before court to answer the charges that have been preferred against them once investigations into the matter are complete.
