Wounded Masindi attempted rapist hospitalised in Hoima

A man believed to be in his 40s is nursing wounds he sustained after being hacked for allegedly trying to rape a woman at Kirinjwi Muduuma Village in Kijunjubwa Sub-county, Masindi District.

Mr Mansur Bwohe, the Miduuma Village Chairman told this website that the man whose identity was yet to be established by publication time is a co-worker to the woman at the farm belonging to the Masindi District LC 5 Vice Chairman, Mr Kasim Kabagonza.

The village chairman said that under the influence of alcohol, the suspect went to the woman’s home on Wednesday evening before he attempted to rape her.

In self defence, the woman picked up a machete, hacked the man severely injuring his hand.

Mr Bwohe said immediately after receiving the information, he in turn called the police that rushed to the scene and whisked the duo away to Kijunjubwa police post for legal management.

The officer in charge of Kijunjubwa police post, Mr Sulaiman Tagaana, said the attempted rapist sustained severe injuries creating suspicion that his hand could be amputated.

The police officer continued that the woman also sustained minor injuries during the attack.

The woman was later left to go back home as police continue investigating the matter while the man was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for medical management.

Mr Kabangonza, the farm owner, confirmed to our reporter that the injured man is his worker adding that he even arranged for the ambulance that rushed him to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital where he is being treated.
