Family members kill, burn their own in Kibaale

Police in Kibaale are hunting for four family members for allegedly killing their brother before burning his body to ashes.

The Kibaale District Police Commander (DPC), Ms Esther Tumusiime Adeke, identifies the deceased as Emmanuel Neyambe, 33, resident of Muziizi Village in Karama Sub-county, Kibaale District.

The DPC also identifies the suspects as Damiano Bananuka, Donozio Ntambi, Emmanuel Musa and a one Kagwa.

The police officer says the quartet purportedly hacked Neyambe to death at around 9am on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 before setting his body ablaze on their father, Mr Tanansi Biryarema’s farm.

Ms Evelyn Bagyenyi, the second wife to the deceased says when she returned home from her garden, she found the suspects hacking her husband to death, later doused the body in petrol and set it alight.

Ms Bagyenyi says on witnessing the gruesome act, she attempted to run away but the suspects pursued, caught and tied her up.

Despite being freed later in the day, Ms Bagyenyi did not report the matter to the police fearing that her husband’s murderers could also harm her.

However, Neyambe’s remains were discovered by one of the residents who reported the matter to the police.
