Total Group through its two affiliates Total EP and Total Uganda Limited has contributed food and medical items and support worth USD 70,000 to boost the fight against Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) in Uganda.

The $50,000 will be directed towards implementation of recommended activities aimed at containing the pandemic at national level managed by the Uganda Red Cross Society on behalf of Total in Uganda who will work in consultation with the Covid-19 National Task Force.
The $20,000 will help to boost preparedness and monitoring activities in Buliisa and Nwoya districts.
These activities will include community awareness and prevention on the pandemic as well as purchase of medical kits. The two districts will equally share the $20,000.
Mr Pierre Jessua, the Country Chair for Total in Uganda commended the tremendous work done by the Ministry of Health and its partners including those in government, the private sector and non-governmental actors in the fight against this global pandemic.

The
donation supplements a recent Shs40m-fuel contribution by Total Uganda Ltd and
5,000 litres of sanitiser through the Covid-19 National Task Force to assist the
Ministry of Health
to deploy various teams nationwide.
Total has been in Uganda since 1955 through its marketing operations and has more than 177 stations countrywide with a market share of over 21%.
Total E&P Uganda is an upstream affiliate which is leading development activities towards production in the Tilenga project area – Exploration Area 1 (EA-1) and Exploration Area 2 North (EA-2N) within the Albertine Region.
