Jilted teacher commits suicide

A teacher attached to Kigando secondary school in Kyankwanzi District has committed suicide at Kasungwa Village in Kabasekende Sub-county, Kibale District.

The lifeless body of Charles Lwanga Monday,47, was found laying in his tobacco garden with a bottle of a chemical used in tobacco spraying beside him.

It is not clear why Monday committed suicide but neighbours told this website that the deceased had been embroiled in a domestic misunderstanding with his wife, Grace Nanyonjo, a civil servant at Kibaale district local government.

The neighbours said the misunderstanding saw the couple separate few days ago.

The Kabasekende Sub-county LC3 chairman, Mr Cornelius Kaija, condemned the act advising married couples to always seek counselling from neutral people to avoid such suicidal acts.

“I challenge married couples to always inform authorities and other people of responsibility to counsel them in case of any family misunderstandings to avoid life-taking acts,” he said.

By press time, police conducted an autopsy before handing the body to the deceased’s relatives for burial.

However, police did not comment on the incident.
