The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has earmarked Shs100m for the construction of the road infrastructure in Kibaale District.
In the letter dated October 15, 2020, the acting Executive Director (ED) Uganda Road Fund, Mr Andrew Naimanye, says the emergency funds are meant for constructing 10km of Kirika-Kisonde-Muhangi Road in Bubango sub-county.
The ED advises the Kibaale Chief Administrative Officer to proceed with implementation of the emergency road works; instructing him to submit accountability before December 15, 2020.
Mr Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, said the development follows the urgent need to develop the road infrastructure that is already in poor shape in the sub-county.
The minister was optimistic that with the construction of the road stretch, there will be an improvement in people’s socio-economic status at household level since suppliers will easily access markets for their agro-output in the district.
He said poor road network is among the major setbacks that propel poverty adding that commitment towards improving the infrastructure should not be under looked in fostering socio-economic development in any economy.
Mr Kasaija who is also the Buyanja County Member of Parliament advised for the diversification of agricultural practices for steady income flow at domestic level.
