Kitara FC unveils new head coach

The Hoima-based Uganda Big League Club – Kitara FC has announced the return of Mark Twinamatsiko as the new head coach of their new season on a two-year-deal.

Twinamatsiko will serve for a period running from 2022 -2024, according to the club President, Deo Kasozi Aheebwa, while unveiling the new head coach at HB Hotel in Hoima city.

He replaces Richard Makumbi who has been raised to a higher position as a technical director of the club.

This marks Twinamatsiko’s second time to serve as Kitara FC head coach following the previous one that shot the club to the top in 2019.

In his remarks, Twinamatsiko said given the strong fan support base, he will ensure that the club climbs higher football ladders.

“We’re here for business to achieve targets. Since there are technical people not politicians, Kitara FC deserves to be in elite league and with joint efforts, they will have to make it next season,” he pledged.

Speaking at the unveiling function, Aheebwa urged fans to support the club which has signed 15 players to reinforce its performance.

“The team still needs more support from fans because the club has a total budget of Shs600m to effectively run for the whole season. There’s need for joint efforts to mobilise funds that will run the club because when players and staff are not paid, problems set in. however, the club is ready to start the season because currently, all players are fully paid,” he said.

In his speech, Makumbi called for team work between players and staff for the club to move to greater heights.

“In football, club staff and players need to have one common goal and one language for it to achieve as a team. Once you have an uncoordinated voice, the club fails. We need to work together for the betterment of the club and I will work hard to see the club deserves better in training and during match time.

Twaha Musa, the Kitara FC Fans Club Public Relations Officer, urged the fans to be donate generously so the club can progress to another level.

“Kitara FC carries the flag of Bunyoro. When we give it support, our own children will be groomed through it and they will ultimately play international soccer.”

Twinamatsiko was unveiled to the press on Sunday morning at HB Hotel in Hoima City by the club President, Deo Kasozi in the presence of the First Vice President cum Mayor Hoima City, Brian Kaboyo, Vice President Technical, Ben Isoke, Deputy CEO Kato Timothy and Technical Director, Richard Makumbi among others.

About Twinamatsiko

Twinamatsiko joined Kitara FC on August 2, 2019 replacing Makumbi.

He helped the club qualify for Uganda Star Times Premier League.

On October 30, 2020, he left the club after signing for FUFA Big League side Kigezi Home Boys.

The CAF licence holder previously coached at UCU, Free Stars, Kyagwe Saza, Bugerere Saza, Saints, Jinja SS, Kiira Utd Dove FC, Kitara FC and Kigezi Home Boys.

Twinamatsiko is currently handling the Bunyoro province team in the FUFA DRUM.
