Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) Land Forces Chief of Staff, Major General Leopold Eric Kyanda, has emphasised on the need for concerted efforts in strengthening security at Uganda’s porous borders as the country fights Covid-19 pandemic.

Discussing with a regional Covid-19 task force in northern Uganda on Friday, the General warned that any laxity in security at the porous borders as well as gazetted border posts will see a surge in the pandemic that is claiming several human lives in the world.
During his three-day trip in that part of the country, the army officer told the task force to enforce the presidential directives aimed to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Maj Gen Kyanda with members of the Security Inter Agency Joint Taskforce visited seclusion areas for cargo trucks along the Kampala –Gulu – Arua Highways before travelling to border points to assess the situation there.
