Masindi has today (Wednesday) confirmed another case of Covid-19, bringing to three the number of people who have caught the disease in the district since its outbreak in Uganda in March this year.

This was revealed by Dr Rogers Musinguzi, the Head of COVID-19 Case Management Team in the district while addressing journalists at Kabarwana Pentecostal Church where he had gone to sensitise religious leaders about Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ahead of the opening of places of worship this afternoon.
The physician said that the Ministry of Health informed the health authorities that the district had registered a third case of an adult male contact of the previously confirmed Covid-19 case.
Dr Musinguzi disclosed that by publication time, the relevant authorities had already made arrangements to transfer the patient to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital Covid-19 management Unit as efforts to trace all his contacts were already in progress.
The medic reiterated his advice to the people of Masindi to follow the SOPs in order to curb the epidemic since the district is now experiencing community transmission.

Dr Musinguzi warned that unless people observe the SOPs, the entire country will experience a serious spike of Covid-19 pandemic.
By press time, Uganda had 1,656 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 452 active ones, 1,188 recoveries and 16 deaths.
