Health workers in Masindi District have been warned against neglecting other diseases in the name of concentrating on Covid-19.
Speaking to Kazi-njema News at this office today (Friday), the Masindi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Martin Mugabi, noted with concern that healthcare givers are focussing more on Covid-19, neglecting other diseases that are still claiming human life in the district.
He said that although Covid-19 is at the centre stage of the medical profession globally, dealing with other diseases is a precursor of fighting coronavirus since a strong immunity helps the body to fight the virus and increases chances of quick recovery in case one contracts it.
The RDC challenged the health workers to scale up health education and mass scientific sensitiation campaigns in order to reduce the disease burden in the community saying that most of the illnesses can be avoided by observing simple personal hygiene practices.
