The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has finally fulfilled its pledge to offer 450 iron sheets to the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Hoima.

The iron sheets were handed to the church administrators by the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Ms Jenifer Namuyangu Kacha, at the office of the Hoima Resident City Commissioner (RCC).

The iron sheets were pledged by the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinaj Nabbanja, at a fundraising drive for the roofing of the main SDA church in Hoima city in September last year.

Mr Badru Mugabi, the Hoima RCC, has told Kazi-njema online radio reporter that they have also delivered another 450 iron sheets to three other institutions including Dahaga Boys Primary School in Hoima city, 100 iron sheets to Brosbert – an NGO skilling young people in Kigorobya town council, Hoima district and an additional 300 iron sheets were delivered to Bulindi Primary School also in Hoima district.

Mr Jimmy Kahuma, the Hoima SDA Church Building Committee Chairman, hailed the OPM and the minister in particular for fulfilling the pledge at the time when the church badly needed the iron sheets to shelter worshipers against the October rains.

“The delivery of these 450 iron sheets saves us of Shs45m; basing on the quotation we had received from Roofings. On behalf of the SDA community, I am very grateful to the OPM,” said Mr Kahuma.

The OPM’s delayed fulfillment of donating the iron sheets had sent a message of doubt among many SDA church members since it coincided with the Karamoja iron sheets saga that had scores on the police list of the wanted.
