Kagadi, Kibaale and Kakumiro District Covid-19 Taskforces have received 6,000 re-usable face masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the districts.

Dr Emely Kugonza, the Executive Director of EMESCO Development Foundation – a non-governmental organisation that donated the masks told the taskforces to target health workers and other government workers, journalists, market vendors, restaurant operators and boda-boda riders.

“The donation of the face masks is in response to government’s measures to fight against the transmission of coronavirus,” he said while handing over the face masks at the organisation head offices in Karuguza Kibaale town council on Friday.

The Kibaale, Kagadi and Kakumiro District Health Officers Dr Melichiad Sekate, Dr James Olowo and Mr Augustine Senteza respectively, promised to hand over the face masks to the target people.

Representing political leaders, the Kibaale district LC 5 vice chairman, Mr Everest Murubya, urged the public to wear face masks while away from their homes “to avoid being arrested”.

Security will on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, enforce the wearing of face masks as directed by President Yoweri Museveni on advice from the Ministry of Health.
