“Prophet” Denis Kintu of Empowerment City Church (ECC) located at Kyesiiga in Hoima City is now a free man after the Hoima magistrate’s court dismissed charges that were slapped against him and his Communications Manager, Mr Brian Isimbe.

Court presided over by the Hoima Principal Grade One Magistrate, His Worship Elijah Iradukunda, said all the charges against the duo have been dropped due to lack of litigants.

Mr Kintu was arrested on 17 counts of charges including trafficking in persons, one count of sectarianism, two counts of assault and six counts of common assault.

He spent a couple of days in Kiryateete government prison along with Mr Isimbe following their arrest on August 31, 2022.

Their arrest followed a video that went viral on social media platforms showing him flogging his followers amid insults that carried tribal sentiments while in his church at Kyesiiga cell in Hoima city.

While speaking to the press after court declared his case dismissed, “Prophet” Kintu said the accusations were built of baseless hate and never correct.

He thanks the people of Bunyoro for loving and being with him in times of trouble.

The video showing Kintu flogging worshipers anguished many people as it acted as evidence of assault.

However, Mr Kintu denies he assaulted anybody.
