Soldier shoots dead wife, police officer at a pub in Juba


Police are investigating the murder of a two persons and injuries another one in the South Sudanese capital, Juba on Wednesday evening.

Longar Akok, a National Security officer, was arrested shortly after committing the crime and handed himself over to police.

Police Spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin says, preliminary investigations indicate that killed woman was wife to the suspected killer. The incident occurred at Bedouin pub, opposite the Hai Malakal Cemetery.

“He suspected that his wife was in a love affair with the man who was seated with her at the pub,” Justin said.

Sources identified Akok’s wife as Rebecca Anyon Kot and the police officer killed as Akech Manut.
