A four-month-old baby stolen from Hoima Regional Referral Hospital (HRRH) on Monday last week has today (Monday) been recovered in Kiryateete – a Hoima city’s largest suburb.

The prime suspect arrested has been identified as Esther Nantale, 19, residing of Kiryateete suburb south of the city.

Police attribute the success to the preliminary arrest of an associate of the prime suspect preceded by professional phone tracking by security forces.

SP Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Public Relations Officer, has said the suspect is now being held in Hoima city central police custody for further investigations into the case.

Preliminary reports show that the suspect had taken the baby to her husband claiming to have given birth after some months of separation in order to compensate for the abortion that she had and kept receiving care for antenatal until the false delivery of the baby.
