The winning football teams in TotalEnergies EP Uganda have been awarded with Shs4m each.
In their final matches held at Ndandamire Primary School in Wanseko town council, Buliisa district on Saturday last week, the oil company awarded all the finalists teams with Shs12m cash in total.
On the men’s football teams, Walukuba Volcanoes FC beat Butyaba Red Scorpions FC 3-1 in penalty shootouts after a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, in the women football teams, Victors FC defeated Walukuba She Volcanoes FC 1-0 making off with the trophy and Shs4m cash.
The runners up were awarded with Shs2m each.
Lyes Badji, the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) Construction Manager at TotalEnergies EP Uganda, said that the tournament is one of their commitments to develop talents in their projects’ host communities.
Speaking on behalf of Kitara Regional League Association, George Kabwimukya, urged TotalEnergies to invest more in the youths of Buliisa so they can improve their talents and be able to advance to national and international football competitions like the rich higher level of football completions like the FUFA Big League.
Chris Odaga, one of the players from Walukuba Volcanoes FC, attributed their victory to teamwork and committed to work harder and keep their flag high with support from TotalEnergies.
At least 99 football teams participated in this year’s TotalEnergies EP Uganda Mini League Edition.
The league that has been gaining momentum year after year, was launched far back before 2028 and disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
TotalEnergies EP Uganda is the licensed developer of Uganda’s biggest oil project so far with active operations in Buliisa district of Bunyoro sub-region and Nwoya district of Acholi sub-region.
